Love2Hope provides compassionate, hands-on support to unhoused individuals and their pets across Whatcom County. Our programs are designed to meet basic needs, improve animal health, and bring dignity and comfort to people facing extreme hardship. We operate several initiatives designed to meet immediate needs while providing ongoing care.
A Weekly tradition of nourishment, warmth, and community
Every Sunday, Love2Hope hosts a Popup Potluck to serve meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. These events allow us to build personal connections while distributing essential supplies, including:
This weekly gathering ensures that both people and their pets receive the care they need to stay nourished, warm, and safe.
Reaching Individuals where they are
Each Friday, our volunteers walk through downtown Bellingham distributing snack lunch bags to people who may not have access to regular meal services. This simple, consistent outreach provides immediate nourishment and helps maintain trust within the community.
Direct, dependable, and compassionate care
Love2Hope visits multiple locations three times a week where unhoused individuals live or receive support. During each visit, we check on the health and well-being of their pets, provide pet food, treats, and essential supplies, and build trusting, long-term relationships. Our consistent presence offers care, compassion, and dignity to people and pets who are so often overlooked.
Because no pet should suffer without help
When an unhoused individual reaches out about a sick or injured pet, Love2Hope responds right away. We visit the owner at their shelter or encampment to assess the pet’s condition, and if vaccinations or further medical care are needed, we arrange an appointment with one of our trusted local veterinary partners. Our team stays throughout the entire exam to provide emotional and practical support, ensuring the pet receives the treatment or medication they need. Love2Hope covers all veterinary costs so vulnerable animals can get compassionate, thorough care—without adding any financial stress to their owners.
Protecting pets through preventive care
Love2Hope hosted its first Free Pet Vaccination Clinic on September 18 at the Lighthouse Mission Drop-In Center, and it was a wonderful success. Our licensed veterinarian provided vaccinations to more than 61 pets belonging to unhoused individuals. Our second clinic is planned for early March 2026. Each clinic is staffed by a licensed volunteer veterinarian and offers essential, life-saving vaccinations to the pets of those experiencing homelessness.
Love2Hope's multi-layered outreach model ensures that people and animals experiencing homelessness are supported with Dignity, Empathy, and Compassion. Every program reflects our belief that no individuals and no pet should be forgotten.
